How We Harvest Natural Latex for Mattresses & Pillows

Frequently Asked Questions about our mattress & pillow grade natural latex sourcing

1. Where is mattress-grade natural latex sourced from?

It is tapped from Hevea brasiliensis rubber trees, predominantly grown in Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam. Mature trees (at least 5 years old) produce a milky sap that naturally coagulates into high-purity latex, ideal for creating molded mattress cores.

2. How is the latex actually tapped?

Skilled tappers make a shallow, spiral cut on the tree's bark at dawn. The sap drips into a collection cup for 2-3 hours, after which the cut is refreshed. Each tree can be tapped every other day for about 25 years, ensuring a stable and renewable supply.

3. What happens between the plantation and your mattress core factory?

Within four hours of tapping, the raw latex is filtered, chilled, and transported to an ISO 9001-certified plant. There, the latex is compounded, frothed, and vulcanized using the Dunlop process.

4. How does sustainable tapping contribute to forest conservation?

Tapping removes only a shallow layer of bark with each cut, allowing the tree to heal completely. Our partner estates adhere to sustainable forestry practices, ensuring the long-term health of the plantations and the surrounding ecosystem.

5. What quality control measures are in place for U.S. buyers?

We implement rigorous quality checks for every production lot to ensure consistency and performance. A Certificate of Analysis is provided, along with all necessary paperwork, to ensure a smooth customs clearance process for U.S. buyers.

6. What is the shipping timeline for a load to the United States?

The standard lead time from the purchase order to shipping is within 1 - 2 months. The estimated ocean transit time varies depending on the final destination. Expedited shipping options, such as air freight, are available for smaller orders and sample rolls.
